A cold front triggered showers and thunderstorms from central New York and Pennsylvania through Kentucky and South-central Texas. A tropical low near Brownsville produced widespread rains across the lower Mississippi Valley into eastern Texas with winds near 35 mph. Another cold front brought rain and snow to parts of the northern Rockies Dakotas and Montana while southern Florida saw scattered showers. Skies ranged from clear in California to partly cloudy elsewhere.

Wounded Elyrian Youth Hurt in Argument Shooting
Elyria youth Huey Morris, 19, was treated for a grazing gunshot wound to the head and admitted to Elyria Memorial Hospital after an argument with girlfriend Donna Rowe, 19. Morris remained in fair condition as deputies charged Rowe with felonious assault and released her on bond.
