In South Amherst on Friday evening the Ladies Aid Society hosted a welcome party for Rev. R. C. Jenson returning as pastor for another year. A buffet luncheon followed for about 150 guests. On Thursday Oct 18 the North Elyria Juvenile and Subordinate Grange held their regular meeting with an inspection and initiation. One candidate, Robert Phelps, received the 3rd and 4th degrees as part of a varied program including songs, readings, recitations, and a Nut contest. The Amherst Grange contributed two one act plays, a musical trio, a reading, a song, a poem, and orchestra selections while flowers from Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shane were displayed. Refreshments followed. The Lake Avenue Church Woman's Association plans a monthly meeting at Mrs. Croskey's home to work on quilts. Gordon Cother, ill, shows improvement. Hazel Thew, Ruth Taylor, and Vernon Thew visit.
