Van Arsdale Divorce Trial Opens in Common Pleas

The divorce suit of Howard L. Van Arsdale against Esther F. Van Arsdale opened today in common pleas court before Judge W. B. Thompson. A crowded court heard extended testimony as witnesses were to be called, with an expected two day proceeding. Howard and the defendant’s parents, John H. and Ida H. Van Arsdale, run truck gardens in Elyria and Ridgeville. An allied $54,000 alienation suit filed by Esther Van Arsdale against Scio H. and Ida Van Arsdale in May remains pending.

Ohio Public Service Erects Largest Lorain Sign

The Ohio Public Service Co plans a grand sign atop Ely block in Lorain county. Designed and built by Jim Armitage, the eighty foot long display features five foot high letters and over two thousand colored lights with a decorative border. The Dougherty emblem crowns the arrangement and the city eyes a brighter electric future, with switch-on in about two weeks.
