Ethan Allen Described As Land Speculator in Bennington Speech
In a Bennington speech marking the Battle of Bennington anniversary, Dixon R. Fox labels Ethan Allen a land speculator, noting the Allen faction led Vermont’s rebellion against New York rule. Fox argues Allen bought up claims of discouraged settlers, unlike Robin Hood, and compares him to New York figures James Duane and John Tabor Kempe.
