Fathers face decision on mercy killing of imbecile son

New York report recalls two cases where fathers killed mentally deficient sons. Louis He, 38, was previously found not guilty by a jury, then faced a second trial. He is accused of murdering Raymond, his son, after years of failed medical efforts and grim care. The second case, Louis Greenfield, a mariner, chloroformed his 11 year old Jerome amid abortive attempts to curb the youth’s brutish tendencies. A jury may convict him of manslaughter. The article notes the prosecutors may press the charge of manslaughter.
