Ohio parents rally against federal role in schools

A Columbus rally outside the Statehouse joined by the Ohio Citizens Alliance and Ohio Parents and Professionals Commission opposition to eight national education goals and a federal grant program. Protesters later gathered at the Ohio School for the Deaf as the State Board of Education considered applying for the funding. Opponents warn outcome based education intrudes on parental control and could mandate curriculum changes. States have until June 40, 1995 to apply for funding.
