Volunteers Clean Up Black River At Cascade Park
Nearly two thousand volunteers from youth to seniors joined the Black River cleanup along Route 10 to 254 sponsored by The Chronicle Telegram and the Elyria Jaycees. About 1,650 checked in at Cascade Park with another 300 who helped along the river, totaling at least 2,000 volunteers. Debris weighed in at roughly 250 tons including shopping carts a hydraulic wheel a drum of wood shellac refrigerators tires and discarded furniture. A fire in Cascade Park dried out youths as Jaycee Jim Parks saluted the effort and the river cleanup showcased community pride.

Posey, son of Amos and Mrs. Posey of Lawrence Court, has two children and is on leave before reporting to Fort Knox Kentucky.
