Four men sought after attempted kidnapping near Baldwin Wallace
Miss Mary Otterbacher a 20 year old Detroit student at Baldwin Wallace college reported four men attacked her to kidnap her as she walked back to her dormitory with Antony Paner. Paner, 21, Akron, was stabbed but not seriously hurt. he aided the girl and was hospitalized. A posse of 59 college youths and the sheriff searched unsuccessfully for the assailants. No motive was learned.

A major blaze in Ocean City New Jersey razed eight blocks including three large frame hotels shops and theatres. Firefighters from about two dozen cities battled the flames as dozens of buildings burned and one man killed in a vehicle crash en route to the scene.
