Winter fuels outlook forecasts higher heating costs this year
The Energy Information Administration says colder than last winter will raise bills this winter though prices for natural gas and heating oil stay relatively stable. Oil may reach a record average price of 3.80 per gallon and total heating costs could top 2,494 dollars, driven by higher usage and oil price highs. Kathleen Ryan in Cohoes worries about doubling costs and plans to use portable heaters to curb expenses while gas and electricity are expected to be cheaper than typical winters.
