Five year old Justin Tamehoff remains in stable condition after an 11 hour transplant at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He received a liver from a donor who died Saturday and will stay in intensive care five to seven days as doctors monitor his recovery.
A Colombian gunman who held an Amtrak sleeping car for three days released a girl and surrendered after authorities, ending a standoff that left the woman and infant dead. The suspect Evangelista Navas Villabona, 29, faced two counts of first degree murder and kidnapping, with the incident near Raleigh, North Carolina.

A 5 year old Lorain boy Shane Sturtevant died after a motorcycle crash on Route 58 near Middle Ridge Road. His father David Sturtevant and brother Steven were riding when a car driven by James P Bires collided. Shane died at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital after transfer from Lorain Community Hospital. The elder boy sustained minor injuries. the father remained in fair condition. Services will be announced.
Freeman and Mary Jane Swank, co ed instructors at Lorain County Joint Vocational School, were suspended without pay after a Sunday board session. Six charges against Mrs Swank and seven against her husband allege insubordination and withholding teaching services, including a confrontation in the administration offices and a later unauthorized departure.
