Democratic nominee George S. McGovern argued his seven point plan to end the Vietnam War would not be a surrender while warning that any withdrawal would be risky. He proposed halting bombing and a 90 day orderly troop withdrawal, with North Vietnam releasing POWs and no U.S. interference in Viet Nam's internal politics. The remarks followed a prime time program detailing his approach amid international reactions to bombing and diplomacy in Paris and Hanoi.
Architect Robert W. Jones proposes adding a 16 story top to the Empire State Building to restore its status as the world’s tallest structure. The plan envisions a 113 story, 1,494 foot tower surpassing the World Trade Center and Sears Tower, though owner input remains undecided.
