Police reported a 19 year old Elyria youth known as Hix Bud Dy released after questioning. The auto lacked a title and license registration. A license plate found belonged to a family member and police said the car was not stolen. The youth was picked up after a report of a vehicle parked on Lake Avenue and Dewey Avenue.
Members of the Farm Advisory Council No.9-A announced a planned trip to Louis Bromfield’s Malabar Farm between Mansfield and Lucas. The planning session was held at the home of Mr and Mrs BE Faulkner on Ninth Street.
A bishop will preside over a mortgage burning at Melha church as part of a special service. Dr. W H Court ney and trustees organize. Mrs H L Cordrey, WSCS president, Leonard Fisk, church board president, and other ministers will participate. Miss Harriett Downer will lead the music with a choir. Public is invited to attend while seats last.
Columbia Station prayer notes report the death of Robert Lester Churchward yesterday. Survived by wife Mabel, daughters Mes Mi HW and Mrs Harry Hoppe, brother George and sisters Mrs Editi Stephens and Mrs Ida Vic Ars Dale. Funeral at Davis Home for Fanerits Sunday at 2 p.m.
James Al Gorham of Bellvue was named Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio at the 100th annual convocation. Other officers elected include Herbert Leyland of Dayton as deputy, Virgil W. Pioneer of Cincinnati as Grand King, Amos Englebeck of Akron as Grand Scribe, Anthony Vollmann of Columbus as Grand Captain of Hosts, and Garrett T. Cruiser driven by Mt Almatend collided with a car pulled from a parking space near 132 Second Street. fenders damaged on several vehicles. W Korak of Lorain and M P Hawke of Columbia Station suffered minor damage in a Broad and Cedar Streets collision. A garbage truck and a car driven by Mrs P E Kummer were involved near East Bridge Street. Kummer’s cart reportedly struck the overhead bridge support. R C Munford of Lorain sustained minor damage in the East Bridge and Broad Streets crash. Bernardus A Duwel of 1124 Lake Avenue was involved but not damaged.
A building permit was granted to Brian Miller of West Lake Avenue for a new single story 28 by 30 foot home on Fair Avenue. The project, estimated at $5,000, will be self constructed by Miller, per city Building Inspector Hart Dickason’s affidavit.
