Supreme Court reviews larceny case over taxed dog
In Columbus the Ohio Supreme Court weighs whether a Red Tick Hound valued at 115 dollars can be the object of larceny. The Wayne County court had convicted Willard Weekly of grand larceny for stealing the dog from Everett Bizwiler. The state appeals court reversed, ruling no statutory offense for grand larceny since the dog had no prior taxation. Weekly appealed to the high court, which allowed the motion and set for review the issue of dog larceny taxability. Also in Portland, Maine, a gas truck driver near his company yard ran dry after delivering 3000 gallons to dealers on his route.
