Arlington National Cemetery Faces Record Funerals and Expansion
Arlington National Cemetery held a flurry of services as 6,785 funerals marked a record year. The Millennium Project adds 12 acres from Arlington House, Fort Myer and cemetery land to fit 14,000 ground burials and 22,000 niches while warning of future space limits. Arlington aims to remain open for veterans for the next century amid heavy deaths from Iraq and Afghanistan.
