In Columbus on October 10 the Ohio American Legion executive committee opposed Rev. Herbert S. Bigelow’s pension amendment and the related initiative reform. They argued the proposals clash with the Legion constitution, which vows to oppose both autocracies of the classes and the masses. Dr. Francis Townsend condemned the Ohio plan as unworkable, likening it to the California ham and eggs scheme.
