Lorain County Grand Jury Indicts 72 in 95 Cases

After a nine day session Judge Thompson heard the Lorain county grand jury report noting 95 cases examined with 72 indictments and 23 ignored. Witnesses numbered 265. three murder indictments and a third liquor violation among those publicized. Arraignment set for Saturday at 9.

Six Tickets Planned for Elyria Election Day

Voters in Elyria will face at least six ballots in November including the city ticket, board of education, township ticket, and referendums on the yellow line franchise Taft bill and Albaugh bill. Country districts add township and education tickets plus a judicial ticket and similar referendums. some townships may vote on school bonds.

Bombing wrecks home of marshal in Steubenville area

The residence of Charles Pearce, marshal of Smithfield, was dynamited at four this morning, badly injuring Pearce, his wife, and child. The blast blew the house off its foundation, fire broke out, neighbors helped free the injured, and authorities suspect an enemy of Pearce, likely a liquor violations foe.

Registration Dates Set for October 12 to 20

Registration in the city will be held from October 12 to 20. Voters who have not registered since the last election must register. Polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for different shifts.

A bi monthly Elyria Post No 12 American Legion meeting approved a minstrel show for November 9 at the Rialto theatre. Virgil Jasper named general manager Harold Birch to lead the program Geo Robson Jr publicity Roy Hultz ticket sales Leonard Terry talent. A Columbus Producing Co contract was signed with H E Stutz as manager. A typewriter was presented by A J Lehman. An election for post officers will follow the show with a smoker party that evening.

Black newcomers banished from Stowe township area

In Pittsburgh area on October 10 a vigilance committee ordering all Black residents of Stowe township and nearby areas to leave by 7 30 pm forced mass flight. About 500 to 800 people were served written notices and left towns as windows were smashed in several dwellings. Chief Duff reported all ordered to depart had left.

William J. Strickler of Lorain says he and his wife married in 1978 and lived together six weeks before she left with their infant and old furniture. She later returned, then left again and moved to another city before filing formal divorce papers.
