County boards seek Blue Cross alternative in health plan study
Lorain County Joint Vocational School District joins countywide bid for health insurance as Blue Cross rates rise. Fourteen districts formed a consortium to buy coverage. Sheffield Lake already switched, saving about 35000 annually. The study, led by McElroy Agency, costs 2750 with pro rated share for the districts.

County hosts hearing on two bridge projects near Black River
The Joint Board of Commissioners of Lorain and Medina counties will hold a public viewing at 10 a.m. on Smith Road near Route 301 and a 2 p.m. hearing at Penfield Township Hall near Route 18 and 301. The $300,000 project, planned for 1980, would be funded 80 percent by federal BRZ funds and 10 percent by each county, replacing two deteriorated one lane bridges over 50 years old on the east branch of the Black River.
