PCB levels at Elyria firm split between state and federal agencies

Energy czar sees 1985 and beyond bold but grim

Former US energy czar Frank Zarb outlined a stark 1985 forecast in Columbus. He warned gas could top 3 a gallon, a major Middle East oil cutoff is possible, coal could double by 1990, and nuclear power will rebound after the election though the path remains politically toxic. He urged decontrol of domestic oil, favoring conservation over windfall taxes, and said alternative fuels will play a minor role by 1990.

Second ambulance operator warned over EMT staffing rules

Elyria funeral home owner Harold Dicken has been warned to stop operating his ambulance unless he becomes certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. A letter from Northwest Ohio EMT coordinator Terry Kirkpatrick cites state law requiring two EMTs or paramedics on ambulances. Dicken and his son were found to answer calls in the evening without both EMTs. Majoras Ambulance Service owner John Majoras and an employee also received warnings earlier in August for driving without two EMTs. Majoras and Earl Holloway have since enrolled in EMT training.
