Hush Bryson Wick, one of the founders and former president of Steel & Tubes, Inc, died of pneumonia at his Cleveland Heights home. Born in Youngstown to Henry Wick, he helped establish Elyria Tron & Steel in 1902, which became Steel & Tubes with plants in Cleveland Toledo and Guelph. Tragic Route 89 Auto Accidents Reported in County
A string of Saturday and Sunday crashes on Route 89 left one dead and five injured. Eva June Truex eight died when a Benders driven car rolled during a hail storm near the county line. Others include Elyria resident Frances Armstrong with a fractured ankle after a collision on Cleveland road near the county line. Amherst crosswalk injuries occurred when Samuel Burbliss was struck on Milan avenue. Bernard Fate’s car damaged another at East River and Clark streets. A 1700 pound horse was killed on Leavitt road after being struck by Earl Morris’s car. Thomas Hallauer was bruised in a bicycle incident at Broad street and East avenue. Sheriff’s deputies investigated the crashes.
