No retrial for Gotsis ends long murder case
Lorain County Prosecutor Grunda announced the state will proceed no further and ask the court to dismiss charges against Dr George P Gotsis after an eight six juror deadlock in a two day trial. He said retrial is unlikely given the evidence and the risk of another hung verdict. The statement followed a day of intense testimony and hours of deliberation by an eight to four split jury.

Bacon prices to rise but unlikely hit $3 a pound
Stockyard sales in the Midwest push bacon to record highs prompting forecasts of $3.20 per pound. Officials and Amherst butchers doubt shoppers will tolerate such hikes, with current supermarket bacon around $1.90 to $2.10. Ohio hog price experts expect prices to stay high through 1975 as feed costs and farm losses shape the market.

Congress overrides school lunch veto votes big child feeding bill
Congress across party lines overrode President Ford’s veto of the school lunch bill by 397 to 18 in the House and 79 to 13 in the Senate. The measure makes the free lunch and breakfast programs permanent, expands nutrition aid for poverty level families, and caps lunch costs at 20 cents for a family of four earning up to 9,500. Ford had objected to cost and subsidizing well off families.
