Ohio DUI plate plan sparks mixed reactions
Doug Scoles of Mothers Against Drunk Driving argues the yellow plates with red numbers aim to improve safety and not humiliate drivers. Jerome Phillips, Toledo attorney for those charged with drunk driving, warns the plates could expose family members sharing a vehicle to stigma and scrutiny. Ohio has used DUI plates since 1967, though judges rarely mandate them.
