Interests of the Management and Employees at A and P
The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company is run by George L. Hartford and John A. Hartford under their father’s plan. Both brothers have long careers in groceries, pay most earnings to taxes, and have little personal stake left on death. Employees nationwide enjoy high wages and short hours, a fact that imposes a duty on management to defend these 85,600 workers against anti worker legislation.
