Rivals join to aid heart attack victim in Elyria

Crews from two competing ambulance services assisted a man near Jack’s Marathon Station on West River Road. Peter Koler died at Elyria Memorial Hospital Friday before 3 p.m. after suffering a heart attack while a car occupant. Police say Elyria EMS arrived after Majoras Ambulance, with both services cooperating. The city contract winner is Elyria EMS, began Oct. 1. Majoras remains available if called.

Man barred from using Oh Boy name in ham burger booth

Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Adrian Bedleski issued a permanent injunction against Laurence Hall of Mansfield prohibiting use of the name Oh Boy to advertise his ham burgers at the Elyria Apple Festival. The action, sparked by James F. Ryan of Midway Oh Boy restaurant, claims 35 years of trademark use and sought removal of Hall’s booth sign.

Oberlin Inn seeks liquor option to boost business

Oberlin officials seek a local liquor license for the Oberlin Inn in Precinct 2-B to raise room occupancy and dining use. The 79 room Oberlin College owned hotel has served beer since 1976 but a license could attract patrons and improve services, with alcohol sales limited to patrons over 21.
