Oberlin man pleads guilty to cruelty to animals
Danny Dailey, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of cruelty to animals for neglecting five alpacas and two dogs at a rural farm. He received 30 days jail per count suspended, a $500 fine with $200 suspended, and three years of probation. Several additional cruelty counts were dropped. A burn pile containing the alpacas’ charred remains prompted the charges after deputies found the neglected animals. Dailey claimed illness caused the deaths.

Flash From At District Quiet Incident Sparks Review
A small student notice led to a district inquiry after a flash drive containing inappropriate photos appeared. Superintendent Babcanec and others met with police to investigate. My recollection of the event notes no person targeted as the investigation focuses on content and origin. Barrett, the teacher, says he did not add any images. The Ohio Highway Patrol seized computers and the drive as part of the probe. Barrett represents Ohio’s 58th District covering Huron, Lorain, and Seneca counties.
