Continental Airlines backs a 600 million expansion and renovation at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, solidifying Cleveland as a hub and handling about 55 percent of airport traffic. A Growth Association study says two additional runways are needed by 2020 beyond the planned one.
Thirteen central office employees of the Cleveland city school district were terminated as part of a restructuring after Mayor Michael R. White took over. Interim chief executive Louis J. Erste said the move shifts emphasis to schools and students. Names among the dismissed include attorneys Juanita Bryant and Raymond Ling and officials Patrice Campbell Marilynne Zigman Linda Edwards Rick Eilis.
