GE Delivers First Production B-1B Engine At Plant
Cincinnati AP General Electric delivered the F101-GE-102 engine, first production unit for the upgraded B-1B bomber, to U.S. Air Force officials at the Evendale plant. The revised B-1, reinstated in October 1981 by President Reagan, follows a 1977 scrapping under the Carter administration. Development began in 1970 and the new variant is named BIB.
