Shack raid delays Stella Taylor in open water swim

Marathon swimmer Stella Taylor, 46, paused briefly after a five foot white tip shark swam near her aboard the Idle Day, then resumed her 70-stroke pace toward Florida. A shark was killed with a .44 Magnum after a bang stick use, and Taylor pressed on despite jellyfish stings and exhaustion. The feat would crown a 140 mile crossing from Bimini to Florida if completed.

Lost Scouts Found Safe After Wet Compass Hike

Three North Olmsted Boy Scouts aged 10 to 14 were lost Saturday during a compass hike near Camp Belden. A massive search of mud and rain drenched 500 rescuers while the scouts, who slept in a dry tent, kept warm with a steak dinner and magazines before being found Sunday morning about a quarter mile west of Menell Road.

Chronicle-Telegram hikes home delivery price to 1.15

The Chronicle-Telegram will raise seven day home delivery to 1.15 starting Sunday Oct 15. Newsstand prices stay at 15 cents daily and 25 cents Sunday. Publisher Arthur Hudnutt cites a 45 percent rise in newsprint costs over four years and says part of the increase goes to carriers and drivers. The paper remains a low price in Ohio.
