Elyria Catholic topples West in high scoring clash

Elyria Catholic built a big offense led by Schneider and McKinney as they outpaced West 38 13. Schneider ran 18 times for 163 yards and three TDs while McKinney added 126 yards on 12 carries and three scores. West, led by Rybarczyk and Traut, fought hard with 77 rushing yards and 119 total yards but couldn’t contain EC's ground attack. West slips to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference. EC hosts Parma Holy Name in Homecoming. West visits Lorain Catholic in a conference game.

Admirals Hold Off Elyria In Tight Buckeye Conference Clash

Admiral King led early and stayed ahead as Elyria stalled after a late fourth down misfire. Dean lamented missed chances while Provident praised Gary Patton and Tim Green for the tough, physical battle. The win lifts King to 1-1 in the league. Elyria drops to 1-2 in conference play.

Midview routs Brookside behind Larkins 138 rushing yards

Midview dominated Brookside 39 0 with 19 first downs to four as senior tailback Gary Larkins rushed 16 times for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Larkins scored in the opening drive and again in the first half, while Al Stacey and Don Wesling connected for a second quarter score. Brookside managed two forays into Midview territory and 0-2 in conference play as coach Steve Kovacs praised his opponent and Midview coach Bollenbacher used the bench to give varsity experience.

Westlake topples Avon Lake in SWC showdown

Westlake defeated Avon Lake 20-7 after a physical battle that featured a crucial early drive, strong punting by Mark Rongers, and a late scoring surge by Mark Ohradzansky. Avon Lake had a late 75-yard drive but came up short as Westlake improved to 2-0 in the SWC and 5-0 overall.

Berea and Midpark stay perfect in Friday state gridiron

Berea and Midpark kept undefeated records in Cuyahoga and Medina counties. Strongsville limited Berea to its season low in a 10-7 Pioneer Conference win for Berea. North Olmsted’s two big plays propelled a 16-7 Southwest ern Conference win over Fairview. Midpark, led by John Brownlee with two rushing TDs, beat Cloverleaf 28-7 in Pioneer play. Porrelli clocks 635 in Elks Friday Couples bowling

Porrelli bowled a steady 217 211 207 635 series to lead the Elks Friday Couples League. Sylvia Ott finished with 225 for a 611 in the Friday Mixed Classic at Center Ridge for runner up. Karen Keeper his 592 marked third in the same event. Lois Blackburn posted area high 230 and a 588 series in the Grafton Friday Morning Ladies League.
