Eleanor M. Smith nee Pomeroy aged 89 of Elyria dies at home November 27 2017. She grew up in Elyria graduated from Elyria High School in 1945 attended Pilgrim United Church of Christ enjoyed bus trips with her daughter and teddy bear collection. She is survived by Claudia Niciffer Vicky Smith Jeremiah Smith Bridgett Jason four great grandchildren and Marie. William Ronald Smink, 74, born September 21 1943 in Elyria, died November 25 2017 at his home in Galloway after a cancer battle. He served in the Army during Vietnam, worked 33 years at Ford, and is survived by his wife Merrilee and children. A memorial service will be held November 30 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Grafton 12090 Durkee Road from 4:30 to 7 PM.
Regina Edna Bowen born April 16 1922 lived in Elyria most of her life. She worked at A and P ten years, retired from Fazio s after 26 years and was a deli manager at Fazio s Midway Mall. Survived by daughters Lynne Cox and Judy Stilley and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private services held at Brookdale Cemetery. The Canadian co-chair of the international commission notes Lake Erie faces a worsening toxic algae bloom driven by nutrient runoff. He says voluntary measures have failed and there are no enforceable deadlines or standards for fertilizer and manure usage. The Ohio Highway Patrol reports 16 fatalities in 11 crashes during the five day Thanksgiving period, up from 9 last year. Seven deceased were not wearing seat belts, including a pedestrian.
