Frank Wilford was named chairman of the Elyria Relief Committee tasked with directing relief work in Elyria. The committee, including Edward C. Notley John Mathis Rev James Daley H W Pond and Dr A R Agate, aims to organize by the next day or two and begin operating midweek.
Reports from the United Press detail a deadly weekend with at least eight deaths. Victims include 9 year old William Waldvogel Jr and 1 year old Melvin Schonter Jr who drowned after breaking through ice on the Ottawa River near Toledo.
Elyria High football season ends with three banquets this week. Tonight in Lorain, Coaches Roy Clymer and Daventon and captain George Novotny will attend the Lorain Kiwanis third annual banquet at the Masonic Temple with guests from Lake Erie League. Tomorrow a Lorain-Elyria banquet at Elyria High will host the entire Elyria High heavyweight and lightweight squads and Lorain High lettermen along with coaches cheerleaders faculty and officials. An unnamed speaker is slated for tomorrow night.

Toledo police hunt for Miley's accomplice after 29 year old Harold Miley dies from three bullets during a failed hold up at Ohler Pharmacy. Ohler, 29, sharp shooter and ex convict, had previously shot a bandit in January after a slugging.
Two young men in bandanas attempted a holdup at C. W. Phillips’s garage on West Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Phillips fought back, sustaining a scalp wound, as the attackers fled east on Fourth Street alley without valuables.
Lorain County Farm Bureau schedules three meetings including a district gathering Friday at the Elyria Savings and Trust Building with directors from Lorain Erie Huron and Cuyahoga Counties to discuss membership fees. An executive committee meeting follows on Wednesday at the same venue. An Elyria Township session is set for tomorrow at Gulf Road School with reports on the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting and remarks by C I Hummell the acting extension agent.
Emma Rouse Lloyd 74, wife of noted chemist and novelist John Arn Lloyd, died Sunday in Cincinnati. A native of Kentucky, she was married to the author and contributed to his work as his spouse.
County auditor C A Horn reports a tentative 3.05 mill tax on all taxable real estate despite past road levy defeat. With delinquencies and reduced county operating funds, the rate is about .55 mill lower than last year but lacks the former one mill road levy. If conditions were last year, the rate could have fallen to 2.24 mills, but anticipated delinquencies prevent further cuts.
The Elyria Lorain County Real Estate Board holds its regular monthly meeting tonight at 7 30 P M in Room 425 of the Elyria Savings and Trust Building announced by secretary R E Griswold. No deaths were listed as part of the evening’s program.
Chairman Summers of the House Judiciary Committee called a Dec. 2 meeting to weigh a repeal resolution. Speaker Garner handed him the text, which proposes a constitutional amendment to repeal prohibition and directs ratification by specially chosen state conventions within seven years.
Frances Rempter, 15, was found dead near her home after a confrontation with Charles Arnwine, 25. Arnwine confessed to shooting her after claiming they planned a joint death, saying she loved him but he lost his nerve. Frances was the eldest daughter of a Newtown printer. Arnwine faces first degree murder charges after being held on a statutory charge.
The Ohio Public Utilities Commission opened hearings on the Logan Gas Rate case in Columbus as seven communities led by Lorain and Athens press for lower charges. The 1924 protest rate of 45 cents, now about 61 cents on usage, faces valuation arguments and possible Supreme Court appeal.
A 1922 analysis shows Americans pay 60 percent more in taxes than in 1921, with per capita tax set at 116 dollars. Total taxes amount to 165 billion dollars, split into 85 per capita for state and local and 8 per capita for federal. Oklahoma Governor William H. Murray announced a pardon for Col Zach Miller famed pioneer and founder of the 101 ranch. Miller had been jailed at Newkirk by Judge Claud Duval for failure to pay $150 in alimony and costs.
Tear gas bombs were fired today to break up about 600 strikers surrounding the Pea body Coal Company's Woodside Mine in Springfield UL. The action followed the strikers blocking employee reports for the first work since last spring.
John Hall aged 57 died at the state prison today by lethal gas the fifth execution by Nevada using this method. He murdered John T Hardrock O'Brien near Las Vegas on June 21 of the current year.

Elyria council chamber will host a public meeting at 7 30 p m on Wednesday to decide if the Not An Empty Stocking Fund will operate again this year. The committee estimates about 700 is needed and will outline fundraising plans and invite local groups to participate to help needy families at Christmas.
About one thousand hunger marchers from points west of Elyria will travel through the city tomorrow afternoon on their way to Washington. Demonstration plans are undecided here. they will stop in Lorain at 2 p.m. for two hours and then proceed to Cleveland for an evening rally at Public Square.

Henry Ford remained in a private $50 a day hospital suite as officials reported his condition satisfactory after a major operation on Saturday. The 63 year old automotive magnate had his appendix removed as surgeons treated an inflamed appendix and a strangulated femoral hernia discovered during the procedure. Messages from Mussolini and King George flowed in as Ford recovered in the $14 million hospital with strict privacy.
A damage suit for 50000 was filed against J J Portman of 818 Park Avenue Elyria by David D Hil through his father C M Bit for injuries alleged after he was struck by a machine drives while crossing the road after leaving a school bus. The incident occurred September 10 and was reported.
