National Award Honors Lorain Hospice of St. Joseph
The Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain received a national award for expanding hospice access. It was honored November 7 at the Chicago Hilton and Towers during the National Hospice Organization symposium. Its weekly radio program Health Care on the Air won a President's Award from over 150 entries. The show airs Thursdays at 9 30 a.m. on WJTB 1040 AM. The hospice has served terminally ill patients and families since 1978.

St Agnes Cubs donate bake sale leftovers to Haven Center
St. Agnes Church Elyria Pack 150 Cub Scouts donated excess baked goods from a Sunday sale to the Haven Center in Lorain after efforts to give to Salvation Army and a Lorain hospital facility. Leaders say the bake sale was successful and plan to repeat next year.

Elyria will begin its final leaf collection rounds on December 2 per Safety Service Director Timothy Coey. Residents must rake leaves onto tree lawns by that date and avoid the street to prevent sewer clogs. after December 2 leaves may be placed in clear plastic bags for city pickup. Robber threats shoot clerk at Dairy Mart on Broadway
A man threatened to shoot a 50-year-old woman clerk during a Monday robbery at Dairy Mart, 2802 Broadway. About $25 to $30 was stolen. Suspect fled on foot toward West 28th Street. He is described as a 25 to 30 year old black man, 5 ft 9 in to 5 ft 11 in, 180 to 200 pounds, with a moustache, wearing Lorain High jacket with 95 on sleeve and hooded.
