German Heritage Farm Keeps 19th Century Property Alive
About 150 volunteers maintain the 120 acre German Heritage Farm near Evendale, a working farm donated by German settlers to the Cincinnati Nature Center in 1995 and turned over to Evendale in 2003. Children learn farm life through weekly volunteer days caring for pigs, chickens, donkeys and turkeys. Dorothy Gorman and her brother Jim resisted developers, preserving the site as a historic farm now run by the German Heritage Farm Foundation.
