Stovetop Blast Burns Two in Apartment Fire
A gasoline cooking stove exploded yesterday afternoon in Grace Conway’s apartment at 25 West Avenue, burning Mrs. Conway and her brother-in-law Price Wright but not sending either to hospital. The fire damaged furnishings, bedding, and clothing, with an estimated loss of $100. The blaze confined to the kitchen, firefighters from Hose Company No. 1, Engine No. 1 and Ladder No. 1 battled the flames for 37 minutes before extinguishing it.
