Jurors Resume Deliberations in DeChant Murder Case

Eight men and four women tasked with deciding if Gregory DeChant fatally stabbed his parents on Case Road and staged a robbery. Jurors were sequestered overnight at the Elyria Holiday Inn after an emotionally charged eight day trial.

Barnes to wed ex-wife in jail after life sentence

Norman K. Barnes, 59, Amherst Township, was sentenced to life for the May 6 killing of G W Grigsby, husband of Barnes's longtime lover. In a new chapter, Barnes announced plans to remarry his former wife Lillian, divorced since August 1985, with a ceremony expected this week.

Barnes sentenced for fatal shooting at Amherst Mobile Home Park

Norman Barnes received 18 years to life after convictions for fatally shooting neighbor Grigsby and attempting to murder Grigsby’s wife Ola Faye. Lorain County Common Pleas Court ordered concurrent terms for the killings and gun use. The defense and victim statements followed the verdict.
