Ohio Governor's clemency review notes high board denials
Governor Strickland faced criticism for slow clemency action as parole board denied commutations in multiple cases. Anthony Horton and Clifton Hobbs received 6-0 votes, while others including Culver Snipes and Lawrence Coreno Jr faced similar outcomes. Strickland reviewed 296 applications from 2005 to 2007, aligning with the board 90 percent of the time, despite political debate over executive clemency and death penalty practices.
