Councilman Dan Zirzow plans to repeal September’s vote cutting the city tax credit from 0.35 to 0.10 percent, affecting residents who work outside Ridgeville. without repeal the change would take effect Jan 1. A repeal ordinance will be introduced at the next City Council meeting.
John and Patti Grey wait for a building permit from Sheffield Village after Building Inspector Ralph Padgett blocked their 15 acre Colorado Avenue parcel for lack of frontage. Council faces vote to override. Easement access and prior lot split raise questions as Mayor Bialko notes similar past denials. The Greys and Bialko family were asked to bring paperwork to the December 14 council meeting.
A domestic violence case against Scott N. Pember, United Way of Greater Lorain County fund raising director, was dropped after a meeting with Judge Robert Ewers. The couple will continue counseling begun in October. Police seized a 9 mm semi automatic pistol and 30 rounds during the Sept. 29 incident.
The free recital by Steven Schick, a noted percussion interpreter, takes place at 6 30 this evening in Kulas Recital Hall at Oberlin College. Schick, a visiting lecturer at Rotterdam Conservatory and UC San Diego faculty, has won the Kranichstein prize and Gaudeamus competition honors. He will perform works by Lang Globokar Rzewski Ferneyhough and Xenakis.

The Downtown Lorain Growth Association announces a Saturday parade from City Hall to the Palace Civic Center to bring Santa to town. Children meet Santa noon to 2 pm, with tape coverage on Channel 36. Family events include a 1 pm movie, a 4 pm story program, and a 6 pm tree lighting near City Hall.
