Ohio winemaker shines in national wine contest
Dr Thomas Wykoff of Cedar Hill Wine Co in Cleveland Heights celebrates a gold medal for his 1982 Chateau Lagniappe Chardonnay in the first American Wine Competition. He and winemaker Jack Foster say the Ohio showing earns new recognition, with Chardonnay peers from Acacia, Beringer, Grgich Hills and more. The winery ships the Lagniappe for $10 and notes Lake Erie grapes, French oak aging, and a nearby sparkling version priced at $12.50. The 1983 Chateau Lagniappe Marechal Foch Nouveau released Nov 15 sells for $4.99 and should be enjoyed soon.
