Southwestern Conference could be one team race
The Southwestern Conference field may settle quickly with Bay as the favorite after a 14-0 league run last year. Rockets center Steve Stoyko leads a strong nucleus, while Avon Lake and North Olmsted project deeper rosters. Coaches emphasize improved health, depth, and performance as the season starts.

Inland Conference features balance and balanced teams
The Inland Conference race should be a competitive, balanced battle with eight of ten teams returning at least three starters. Avon appears favored to repeat, but Buckeye Firelands Independence Lutheran West and others push for the title as teams upgrade rosters and aim to avoid an undefeated season. Elyria-West Radio will broadcast 15 area high school games this season with a rich early schedule.
