Fascist Movement Is Reported Negligible In United States
United Press survey finds fascist groups in the United States are small and scattered. Minor outfits such as khaki and silver shirts are waning after prosecutions and trials. White shirts and revived Ku Klux Klan remain the only movements with any health, though membership is uncertain and small. Officials Await Relief Measure From Legislature
Lorait County officials face a looming 3,889.500 deficit next year if the 15 to 19 mill real estate tax shift is not offset by a sales tax or similar bill. Municipalities and schools combined show a total next-year shortfall around 581,500 for cities and townships and 302,900 for schools. Without relief, garbage collection, police and fire services, street maintenance, and school terms could be cut. A potential real estate tax reduction of 20 to 50 percent could shift the burden to general buyers. if not, schools close and services shrink. Elyria’s real estate tax rate will drop to about 18.21 mills from 23.14, creating a 96,726 deficit for city administration next year unless new taxes are enacted. No. 1 Continued on Page 2
