Colorado mine battle leaves two dead and many injured
In Northern Colorado near the Columbine mine two FW. W. strikers were killed and many injured when guards opened fire as about 500 miners and supporters attacked the enclosure. Deputy Sheriff Beynon and state police clashed with the crowd, with tear gas and gunfire ending the assault within minutes. Ambulances ferried the injured to Boulder and Longmont hospitals as National Guardsmen mobilized.

Charles F Eckenfels narrowly escaped death last week at the McDonald Fair ground on the Telegraph road. While feeding corn into a grinder powered by a nearby belt, the line drew him through a hole in the wall and hurled him from the belt. His overcoat and sweater were shredded, and he suffered severe muscle wrenching and a deep scalp wound before being carried home for medical care.

Man Fined For Part In Wreck On Grafton Road
Lawrence Dudek of Stop 31 Grat ton was fined 23 dollars plus costs after pleading guilty to driving without proper lights. He caused a collision on the Grafton road when his auto struck a car driven by Ray Sieata and injured Anna Guile Lorain. Dudek appeared before Justice S. J. George and also faced a separate fine for keeping a light off.

A report from the Ohio Bankers Association states more than a half million Oblivans will receive twenty three millions of Christmas Savings fund checks early in December. Seven perong sentenced by judge in common pleas court
Seven persons were sentenced today by Judge W. B. Thompson after eighteen indicted by the grand jury were arraigned. Five face penal terms, two pay fines only. Brooks and Ligging pleaded guilty to auto theft, with Brooks sent to Mansfield Reformatory and Ligging to the Ohio State Penitentiary. Sars, Kendrick, and Winehorer each received various penalties for concealed weapons and neglect. Others faced charges or plead not guilty as proceedings continued.

Dock Simmons colored of West Avenue pleaded not guilty to burglary in police court this morning. He was arrested over an attempted chicken theft from John Palika of Woodford Avenue Friday night. Simmons said he only meant to see what the excitement was and denied any theft. Trial set for Wednesday. Charles Smith of Pine Street, shot during the chicken theft attempt, will be arraigned in police court as soon as possible.

Ohio Traffic Deaths Rise In Weekend Fog
A weekend of crashes across Ohio left several elderly pedestrians dead or badly hurt. At Bloomfield near Steubenville August Smith, 72, was killed when a fog blinded driver struck him. Nearby, 84-year-old William Stringfellow of Findlay died after a vehicle struck him on the Dixie highway. William Greer, 74, also died in a related incident. In Monroe, Michigan, Isadore Rice, 19, of Toledo, was killed in a crash, with six others seriously injured.
