Rally Held For Lorain Grid Classic Tomorrow

A community rally celebrated the Looming Lorain grid classic with Eisra-Lorain scouts and more than 40 participants including Piast members and current students. Veterans from Lorain High’s first football era recalled founding days led by E. J. Crisp who noted George Stevens as key in bringing football to the school.

Maurice Maschke Dies in Cleveland Political Giant

Maurice Maschke aged 68 a longtime Republican organizer in Cuyahoga County dies of pneumonia after a nine month illness. Philadelphia dispatch reports a blaze at Moore and McCormack Steanships plant destroyed Pier No 3 and prompted claims amid seamen strikes. Company officials denied the fire caused a million dollars in damage and said the incident is under investigation.

Timms Spring Hospitalization Plan Approved

Timms Spring Co trustees approved a hospitalization plan effective today covering hourly and piece workers with one year or more service. The fund pays hospital expenses including operating room and supplies with costs split 5 percent to the company and 15 percent to the patient. Immediate families are included with some conditions. weekly or monthly salaried employees are excluded. Frank Hooter, hospital superintendent, praised the plan and noted another local firm may adopt a similar program.

Britain to oppose Spanish blockade of Barcelona port

London reports Great Britain will resist any search or seizure of ships and defend Barcelona against a Nationalist threat. Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden told the House of Commons a note warns foreign vessels to stay away and promises retaliation if the port is attacked.

Death marks end of a life of service for Miss Rena Conn

Miss Rena Conn age 89 died yesterday afternoon at the Elsha Home for the Aged. She came to the home in 1921 and served as secretary of the Sunder School of Union Avenue M E church in Alliance from 1875 to 1955. In Elyria she attended First Methodist Church and Mt Union College ceremonies. Funeral services were held Saturday at 9 30 from the Tmeon Avenue McEleyure in Ohio with Rev C W Stoneburner leading assisted by Dr J J Wrethor Mansfield Dr W H MuMaster Mt Union College president and Rev Kari Meister. Surviving nephews include Joseph Pippett of Ashland and Carl Pippet of Milford Center with others in California.
