Lywanna Cooper, the first Black driver for North Olmsted's municipal bus line, had discrimination complaints dismissed by state and federal agencies. The case, filed June 27, 1980, followed her firing for leaving a bus running unattended with passengers aboard. Cooper alleged sexual harassment and misconduct by colleagues, which she linked to her firing. The city cited rule violations and said other drivers left buses running during garage shifts.
