Exxon to pay 25 million to settle NYC spill case

Exxon Mobil will pay 25 million dollars to resolve complaints over its handling of a decades old underground oil spill in Greenpoint Brooklyn. The settlement with New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and Riverkeeper imposes cleanup deadlines and requires soil remediation to curb fumes entering homes. Riverkeeper says the agreement should hasten removal of millions of gallons of oil and speed up the remediation effort.
