Two Teens Rescued From Rainy Black River

Elyria firefighters and police rescued 15 year old Carl Haynes and 16 year old Brian Haehn after they became stranded on a debris island in the Black River near Cherry Ridge Golf Course. The boys, soaked and cold, were treated for exposure at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Reagan Gorbachev vow to end arms race at Geneva summit

Retired Sheffield Lake cop wins $11 million Lotto prize

Joseph Darmos, 58, a retiree from Sheffield Lake police, won 11 million dollars in the Ohio Lottery Lotto. He will receive 57 881 dollars a year for 20 years after taxes 46 305 dollars. Darmos was among three winners of a 34 million dollar jackpot announced by state lottery officials.

Business meeting tied to Avon Lake man’s fatal Cleveland shooting

Cleveland police say 45 year old Ralph Barone was en route to a scheduled 830 pm business meeting in the Cleveland area when he was found shot to death in a car on the near east side. Detective Fransen says evidence places the kill shortly after 830 and investigators are probing a business venture Barone was discussing with one or two others. The meeting may be connected to his Crown Supply Co office supply business on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River.
