Bids for a four lane relocation of Routes 10 and 20 in Eaton Township and North Ridgeville will be opened in Columbus on December 12 by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The 5.4 mile limited access highway will parallel current Route 10, connect with I-480, and cost about $20 million funded by Federal-Aid Primary Roads, ODOT and State Issue One. Completion is projected for August 31, 1981. Different segments include bridges, interchanges, and a new Route 10-20 designation linking to the Ohio Turnpike. Route 10 old segment from Route 57 to Bagley Road becomes a county service road. A second Route 20 section remains planned in Lorain County from Parsons Road to Route 301.

Downtown Elyria merchants plan the Christmas Parade for Saturday December 2 starting at 3 pm from the Lodi Street lot. About 50 units will march along West Avenue Broad Street East Avenue Second Street back to the park with Santa Claus distributing candy after the parade. Grand Marshal will be Jim Norris Indians outfielder who will sign photos in the park. Smokey the Bear from Elyria Fire Department will be on a ladder unit along with several bands and local groups.
