Rare postmaster stamp found by Sioux Falls man

Charles S. Hills of Sioux Falls discovers a rare 1845 St. Louis postmaster provisional stamp in his possession. He sent it to a stamp firm for appraisal, paid a high fee, and received a draft of 1140 dollars by mail. He kept the money as Christmas funds, while the story hints at further cash prospects and the stamp's uncertain value.

Save Park Stamps Collectors Should Save Canceled Issues

Save Park Stamps Collectors will do well to save all the cancelled Park stamps that come into their possession. The restricted issue of Parks stamps has resulted in the sale of entirely too many stamps in mint form. The lack of proper distribution to the smaller 3rd and 4th class post offices will result in a short age of the cancelled variety.

Chinese envelopes marked to ward off evil spirits

A rumor describes Chinese envelopes bearing dots dashes or red lines intended to keep evil spirits away so mail reaches its destination. The tale adds a story of nine Greek stamps signed on the back by the governor of Paros dated May 2, 1931 and claimed to have been used as due stamps.
