Lorain College levy support by township varied widely in Lorain County
In Oberlin and Elyria support was strong, with 58 percent and 53 percent approving respectively. Amherst and Vermilion saw 49 and 42 percent. Rural townships such as Brighton 45 percent and Penfield 42 percent voted against. Overall, about 49 percent of township voters backed the levy, aided by more populated townships Carlisle and Eaton. Farm Bureau endorsed the measure, while Henrietta Township had 49 percent approval amid shifting rural demographics. A Henrietta trustee, William Bennett, argued farmers are not driving low support and praised the levy.
