Legislature OKs pension reforms in Ohio
Ohio lawmakers approved separate bills overhauling the state's five pension funds amid spending scandals. The measures strip the attorney general from boards, allow the treasurer to appoint executives, and require that half of outside investment work go to Ohio brokers. The $102 billion funds serve 1.5 million retirees and current workers. Boards warn against concentrating power, while backers argue reforms bring balance and investment expertise.
