Blindness to double in 35 years expert warns
CHICAGO AP. Johns Hopkins researcher James M. Tielsch says aging Baby Boomers will drive a rise in legally blind older Americans from 860,000 in 1990 to 1.7 million by 2085 unless better strategies halt age related eye disease. Four diseases — macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease — account for most vision loss.
