Computer simulations map Dallas traffic and air impact

Dallas residents' travel plans, vehicle types, and activity patterns form a 25 square mile TRANSIMS database. The system simulates second by second movements, tests changes like new lanes or bridges, and computes resulting air pollution to aid traffic planning and compliance with air quality laws. It expands modeling across cities and applications in economics, rail, spectrum auctions, and space missions.
